Liugui Rainbow Mountain Great Buddha, Liugui District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Soaring nearly 20 meters tall amidst the verdant mountain ridges of the Bulao Hot Spring valley, this monumental seated Shakyamuni statue took over a decade and nearly a thousand tons of copper to complete. Visitors can enter the chamber within the Buddha's pedestal to view the gigantic sacred steel spine, and climb the grand staircase to gaze out over the winding Laonong River and forested peaks. Afterwards, unwind in nearby Baolai hot spring mineral baths, savoring tender Liugui plum roast chicken, fragrant mountain wild tea, and crispy mountain fern stir-fries.
