About this place

Xinwei Forest Park Mahogany Tree Trail, Liugui District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Set on an elevated river terrace between the Laonong and Zhuokou rivers, this picturesque two-kilometer forest avenue is lined with nearly 2,000 towering bigleaf mahogany trees. Each spring between March and April, fallen amber foliage transforms the forest floor into a thick, crunchy red carpet, evoking the romantic charm of a European woodland retreat. Strolling through the shaded canopy breathing refreshing phytoncides, travelers continue into Liugui town to enjoy native mountain camellia brew, handmade aiyu fig jelly, and savory Hakka rice noodles (ban-tiao).

✦ Must-Visit Highlights:

▸ Dreamy Two-Kilometer Mahogany Forest Canopy: Stroll beneath soaring hardwood trees creating a peaceful, cathedral-like green tunnel.

▸ Spring Scarlet Leaf Carpet & Romantic Woodland Walk: Photograph golden-red fallen leaves covering woodland pathways in early spring.

▸ Fresh Liugui Wild Mountain Tea & Aiyu Jelly: Sip aromatic native cold-brew teas and taste silky handmade mountain aiyu fig jelly.
