About this place

Jiangong Islet Tidal Causeway, Jincheng Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. Revered as Kinmen's own version of the Moses Sea Parting, Jiangong Islet sits at the mouth of the Wujiang River. As the tide recedes, a stone pathway emerges from the mudflats, flanked by the towering surrealist "Oyster Men" art installations by Finnish artist Marco Casagrande. Walking across leads to the fortified islet, complete with military watchtowers, cannons, and a colossal statue of Koxinga looking toward Xiamen. In nearby Jincheng Old Town, travelers relish steaming bowls of Yongchun Cantonese Congee (永春廣東粥), crispy Oyster Fritters (蚵嗲之家), and Kinmen egg rolls.

✦ Must-Visit Highlights:

▸ Intertidal Stone Causeway & Monumental Oyster Men Sculptures: Walk between high-legged oyster-gathering statues at low tide.

▸ Fortified Offshore Stronghold & Koxinga Historical Shrine: Explore preserved bunker gunports and sweeping ocean outlooks toward Xiamen.

▸ Yongchun Minnan Cantonese Congee & Crispy Oyster Cakes: Savor smooth silky porridge meatballs and golden-fried oyster patties.
